Planet Rock Xmas gig

When I heard that Gary was playing an Xmas gig at the 02 Academy in Islington, I wasn't that keen initially, having already seen him on the April and October tours this year. I live over 100 miles from London and even though I was on holiday the week of the gig, the thought of trekking up and down the M4 wasn't too appealing. In addition, I couldn't stomach the thought of watching Justin Hawkins Hot Leg again, who I saw last year supporting Extreme, and were, quite comfortably, one of the worst bands I had ever seen.

However, I remembered the description of the gig. "Unique set, especially for Planet Rock listeners". Maybe we'll get a "Gary Moore and Friends" type show, with some special guests ? Maybe he might play some of the fusion type numbers that he did at the Vibes From the Vibes Festival in August ? I decided to buy a ticket.......

I missed the Hovercraft Pirates. Hot Leg were no different to last year; whilst they went down well, and I would concede that Justin Hawkins is an amusing frontman, the music was dreadful. Bring on the main attraction !

Unfortunately, my heart sank when I saw the regular band amble on stage. Gary then launched into "Oh Pretty Woman", followed by "Bad for you Baby", then "Down the Line" - hang on, this was the set that I saw three weeks ago ! He did play "Have you Heard", which was omitted from the show I saw at Cardiff in October, but the rest of the set was identical.

It would be wrong to use the word "disappointed" - I've never been disappointed at a Gary Moore gig as the man is a genius. However, I genuinely believed that this was going to be a "special" gig and if I had known the set in advance I wouldn't have gone. How many other people went to the show expecting to hear some different numbers ? Was this Planet Rock's fault for advertising it as a "unique set" ?

I would mention that Gary played brilliantly, with "I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know" worth a mention. However, when all is said and done, taking into account a 230 mile round trip, £60+ on a ticket, petrol, food etc, and having to endure an hour of Hot Leg; sorry Gary, it wasn't quite worth it.

Im a big fan of Gary. .Im particulary enjoying the blues for greeny albumn at the moment.. I have learnt Long grey mare on guitar except for the solos.. does anybody know where I could find the tab for them?
